As low pressure creeps up the Texas Coast overnight, it'll drop a boatload of rain. Anywhere from 4-7 inches, with some places seeing more than 8 inches. That's why the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

What's going on is an area of low pressure now in extreme South Texas will move up the coast. At the same time, a surge of upper-level wind energy will move over the low, helping it intensify. That's why the rain will be so heavy and, in addition to the expected deluge, high winds along the coast could raise tide levels 3-5 feet. That could lead to coastal flooding on the Bolivar Peninsula, as well as the west end of Galveston Island.
Our local Super Microcast computer model runs four times a day, and this afternoon's run shows dangerously high rain amounts by Friday afternoon:

So get an early start on the Friday commute, make sure the kids have the rain gear and be sure you have a plan in case you are impacted by flooding.
