HOUSTON – Three people were on the run and two were in custody after a shooting and brief police chase in south Houston.
Investigators said it started around 3:30 a.m., when shots were fired by the group of suspects on Holly Hall, just east of the Astrodome.
The suspects fled in a white Dodge pickup, and investigators said at some point, they tried to run over an officer. That officer fired a single shot, but it did not appear that anyone was hit.
Police chased the suspects until they bailed out of the truck at Pawnee and Ardmore.
The suspects then fled on foot, crossing 288.
One of them was nabbed in the 3500 block of Seabrook.
Another suspect was found – with the help of K-9 units – in the backyard of a home on Noah Street.
Police were still searching for the remaining suspects Friday morning.
Officers searched the abandoned truck and removed a white box from it, but it was not clear what – if anything – they found inside.
