PASADENA, Texas -- The family of a Pasadena mother of seven who was killed while walking home from a nightclub last year is finally getting some answers.
More than a year after the body of Edlyn Villegas Munoz, 36, was found under a Pasadena bridge, police have made an arrest.
Authorities say 27-year old Francisco Machado Lopez sexually assaulted and killed Munoz as she walked home from a club on January 1, 2012.
“We do feel a little better that he is in jail -- that they have him already, but we still have to move on the same way,” said Mahday Villlegas, the victim's sister.
Munoz's sisters and mother say this past year has been so difficult. Munoz and her husband had seven children ranging in ages four to 18.
“They wanted to spend Christmas at the cross they put out for her… they put out their stocking like she did every year,” said Villlegas. “They kept saying all they wanted was their mom back.”
Munoz's family says they saw Lopez around their apartment complex but didn't know him.
Police found Lopez living with relatives in New Jersey. He was arrested there and will be transported back to Harris County later this week.
“We're relieved he got caught, but we still feel the same -- she's not coming back,” said Villegas.
