HOUSTON—Jane Draycott appeared in court Tuesday morning to answer a charge of theft.
Police say Draycott, a Houston firefighter, tried to take items from a Walmart in Spring last week.
Her lawyer said Draycott has been struggling with the death of her teenage daughter, who was killed in a car crash.
He said Draycott spiraled out of control after learning the man who allegedly caused the crash could get probation instead of jail time.
Draycott has been in the headlines since she claimed that she found racist and sexist graffiti on her locker at Fire Station 54.
