HOUSTON—Hoping to make the world a better place, 10 people from different faiths and cultures recently gathered for dinner and conversations. Some of the conversation were right to the point.

“I was told that Syria wouldn’t be having these problems if is wasn’t for Israel,” said Dr. Leonard Hoffman, who said he has heard a lot of insults towards Jews.

These type of dinners will play out dozens of times on November 17 in homes all across Houston. They’re called “Amazing Faith Dinners” and are being put together by Interfaith Ministries.

The most recent dinner was hosted by Dr. Mohamed Shalaby, a cardiologist who took a question about prayer.

“I can’t sit here and ask God to cure my patient at the hospital. He can of course, but from my prospective I have to go to the hospital and be by the patient’s side, spend hours there and go over the details and pray to God that I am successful. And when I do that, I do qualify for God to answer my prayer,” Dr. Shalaby said.

These remarkable dinners last two to three hours and are specifically designed to create better understanding between faiths in a complicated world.
