HOUSTON -- Witnesses say a man walked into a Cash America store in southeast Houston Tuesday morning and shot a manager in the leg.
“I was thinking he was going to shoot at everybody,” customer Norberto Silva said.
Silva was inside the store just after 9 a.m. He was on the floor and just feet from the gunman. He said the man stood more than 6 feet tall and wore a mask.
Police said he hauled off money and jewelry in a bag. It is still unclear why he shot the manager.
“He was cooperating with the suspect,” Houston Police Sgt. Larry Doreck said.
Doreck said that once the man was outside the store, he ordered a woman out of her car and drove off in it. They found the vehicle abandoned just a few blocks away.
Doreck said it was not the first time the store had been robbed and that the manager is expected to be OK.
