HOUSTON -- As we get into Friday, the best chance for getting rain mixed with sleet is between 3:00 a.m. and noon, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist David Paul.
The northwest counties in our viewing area will see more of a rain and sleet mix, while Houston and areas to the south should only see rain.
For the areas that will get sleet overnight into Friday, it’ll melt very quickly because temperatures at the surface will be well above freezing.
Areas in West Texas are seeing a range of three to ten inches of snow. For those west of Austin and Dallas, the winter storm warning could cause travel issues.
It’ll be wet and chilly for the tailgaters out at Reliant Stadium for the Texans-Bengals game on Saturday. Temps will be in the 50s, but there’s a 30 percent chance of rain in the afternoon.
Sunshine and temps in the 60s return Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Our next strong storm system will bring rain on Wednesday.
