HOUSTON – Highs will inch closer to the upper-90s this week with the official start of summer on Friday, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez said.

Overnight lows will hold steady at 75 degrees making for a warm Monday morning. Temperatures will peak at 96 degrees in the afternoon, but of course, it will feel like it is over 100 degrees with the humidity.

The KHOU 11 Weather Team is keeping an eye on a tropical wave off the coast of Central America. The National Hurricane Center says the wave has a 30 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

We may see the wave influence weather in Southeast Texas later in the week.
