HOUSTON – Customers and employees of a northwest Harris County Walmart got a scare Monday afternoon.

The store at West FM 1960 near Eldridge Parkway was evacuated after several loud booms and pops.

Dustin Webb was shopping inside the store when he thought he heard gunshots. He said several people panicked.

"It was like pop, pop, pop and everyone ran and a couple of old ladies fell down," said Webb. "And everyone was running to the back."

Harris County deputies rushed to the scene. They searched the store and discovered that someone set off fireworks inside the Walmart.

It turned out to be some thieves who wanted to create a distraction while they stole large-screen TVs.

Deputies took one suspect into custody. They are looking for two others who got away.

Everyone was eventually allowed back inside the Walmart.
