HOUSTON – Customers in northwest Harris County are spending big bucks for fireworks to celebrate the upcoming July 4th holiday.
“I don’t have a budget,” said customer Jeff North. “I try to spend $300 to $800.”
Fire departments think there are risks.
“We are under very dangerous conditions right now,” said Ponderosa Fire Chief Fred Windisch. “I’m scared.”
There are a half dozen fireworks stands within a couple blocks along FM-2920 in north Harris County.
People are spending up to $4,000 on fireworks, according to one vendor.
