HOUSTON – A 73-year-old woman is recovering from her injuries after she was hit by a car that went through the wall of a local church Saturday in northwest Houston.

Annie Brooks was setting the alarm at the Word of Truth Revival Worship Center, when outside of the church, a driver hit her parked car pushing it through the wall.

“As it went through the wall it hit her, knocked her like 40 feet. It broke her leg, her tibia, her fibula and her ankle,” Kenneth Brooks, son of crash victim, said.

“I had a chance to speak to my mom. She was coherent. She was able to understand what I was saying and she’s going to be all right,” he added.

The driver of the car and her young son were not hurt. She was ticketed and then released.

It’s not clear what caused the accident.

The church will hold normal services tomorrow.
