HOUSTON – Many states north of Texas are getting their first taste of fall, but the Houston-area will remain hot with a forecast high of 95 degrees on Friday, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.
There is a 30-percent chance of rain, but the rain chance jumps to 50 percent on Saturday.
"We're going to slowly start to see an increase rain chance starting today, then tomorrow and then the best chance will be Sunday into Monday," Johnson said.
With the rain comes lower temperatures. High temps through the weekend and into next week will be in the low-90s.
Meanwhile in the southern Gulf of Mexico, a small flare-up of thunderstorms is hugging the Mexican coast. It’s expected to move north along the coast, possibly bringing rain to southeast Texas by the middle of next week. The National Hurricane Center said the disturbance has a 70-percent chance of becoming a tropical storm.
