LEAGUE CITY, Texas—It took four volunteer fire departments a little more than an hour to battle a huge blaze at a League City home Friday morning.
The fire broke out at the home on Rustic Oaks at Bay Area Blvd. shortly before 6 a.m. Two people who were in the home got out safely, but the house was almost completely destroyed.
“I heard the first pop,” said Sherrye Ramirez, a neighbor.
“Three distinct bangs,” Mark McClure, another neighbor said.
The fire spread quickly through the attic, leaving piles of debris. How it all started is unknown.
“The garage is always where everybody stores everything. And right now, we have to start eliminating heat sources and see what might have or could have started the fire," said J.J. Jack, Deputy Fire Marshal for League City Fire Department.
For now, neighbors are rallying around the devastated family.
