HOUSTON—Two people were rescued, but another one died after their southeast Houston home went up in flames early Friday, according to the Houston Fire Department.
HFD arrived to find heavy flames coming from the back of a house in the 5700 block of Heron at Southbank around 1 a.m.
Firefighters made entry and found a man and woman—both in their 60s—lying in the front of the house. They brought them out and went back in to search for more victims. They then spotted a man, who was in his 30s, in the back of the home and pulled him out.
All three victims were suffering from severe smoke inhalation and transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The older couple survived, but the younger man – who also suffered burns – died from his injuries.
