HOUSTON – Police said a late night crash involving three vehicles led to the DWI arrest of a bystander.
The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Sunday on Highway 290 at N. Gessner, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said a woman driving a sedan was not paying attention and hit the back of another car. That car then hit the back of a third vehicle.
The woman in the sedan was sent to the hospital, but no other injuries were reported.
Police said the woman’s boyfriend was following in a separate vehicle and stopped after the crash occurred. Officers determined the man was drunk, and they arrested him on suspicion of DWI.
All main lanes of the freeway were closed for about 20 minutes as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
