Two days after the Deerbrook Mall shooting that left his brother dead, Joaquin Carlon spoke publicly about the shooting that, he says, convinced him to give up a life of crime.

The surviving Carlon brother, with activist Quanell X by his side,  did not offer excuses for the crimes he was committing, or the two previous times auto theft and other felonies have landed him and his brother in jail.  But they did question the officer’s tactics.
