HOUSTON -- It’s the dog days of summer, literally. Don’t forget the cats, too.

Thankfully, there’s a cool summer camp for kids right here in the City of Houston, and it offers something for practically every child’s interest. The SPCA offers a really special experience that involves close encounters with wildlife and man’s best friend.

While other children may spend their time at camp going from cabin to cabin, children at the Houston SPCA’s summer camp go from kennel to kennel. Kids get to do what they love at critter camp while the shelter animals get some extra attention.

Not only do the kids learn to appreciate animals, the animals get to adjust to interacting with kids of all ages.

Critter Camp is open to students 2nd grade through 8th. It runs through Aug. 16, depending on the child’s age group.
