HOUSTON—Firefighters had to use special equipment to help rescue a woman from her small car after it was crushed in a wreck, police said.
The accident was reported in east Houston around 1 a.m. Friday.
According to the Houston Police Department, the woman was driving her small Ford north on S Sgt Macario Garcia Drive at Avenue W when she left the roadway and slammed into a telephone pole.
The impact crushed the woman’s car and trapped her inside. After she was freed, she was sent to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said they would investigate to determine what caused the wreck.
