HOUSTON – A woman says she was attacked at knife point after accepting a ride from a wrecker driver in north Houston.

The victim, a 26-year-old mother of two who did not want to be identified, had just finished Christmas shopping and was waiting at a Metro bus stop on Airline and Tidwell when the man approached.

“He leans over and opens the door and is like, ‘You OK? You need a ride. I said, ‘Not really,’” she said.

But, after talking with him for a few minutes, she agreed to get in the truck.

“(He said) I will get you where you want to go. So I trusted the word. For one, he works for the city—what I mean is he’s supposed to be helping people,” she said.

The victim said the man started driving toward her home, but then turned off into a motel.

“I said, ‘Why you going this way?’ And he pulls out a knife,” she said.

The woman said the man held her at knife point and then raped her in the motel room. She managed to get away and ran for help.

Now she’s terrified and doesn’t want to leave the house.

“I didn’t want to go because I didn’t want to drive. I’m afraid if something happens to the car. I’m petrified, traumatized,” she said.

The woman said she thinks the wrecker driver has done this in the past because he was very calm and collected.
