Summer "officially" begins Tuesday, June 21, but that's just a date on the calendar. Houstonians know that season usually kicks off around Memorial Day and lasts through the first cold front in October. A large ridge of high pressure that's been keeping us dry and extremely hot is finally sliding off to the east. That will open the door for some moisture to move in allowing showers to form and we'll see a smattering of rain through the end of the week. Good news for thirsty lawns, but it won't be enough to break the drought.
