Red tide closes Australian beaches

SYDNEY, Australia – Officials have closed several beaches after the tide and sand turned blood red.

Scientists said that a thick, red algae, which is caused by adverse weather conditions, has collected near the shore.

They said that there is no risk to the public except for dry skin.
