OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. – A security camera recorded a minivan crashing into a jewelry store after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The minivan narrowly missed a customer and the store owner’s daughter as it barreled into the jewelry store.
The driver told police that a carbon-dioxide canister lodged itself against the gas pedal and that she tried to slam on the brakes.
“Heard what I now know to be the revving of an engine. Looked to my right and blinked and there was a van in the store and my customer was missing,” Chandlee Epps, employee of the jewelry store, said.
No one was seriously hurt, and the store has reopened.
The owner of the jewelry store joked that the store is ready for the Christmas rush, but asked that all customers park outside first.
