HOUSTON—TxDOT engineers and inspectors have determined the need to close a lane of the 610 West Loop northbound at US 59 after a weekend accident.
The closure comes due to concerns after an oversized 18-wheeler truck struck the bridge as it traveled on the US 59 northbound direct connector to 610 West Loop northbound on Sunday night.
TxDOT crews were closing the single lane of 610 West Loop northbound over US 59 to minimize vibrations which could cause additional damage.
The US 59 northbound connector ramp to 610 West Loop northbound was set close at 8 p.m. Monday so construction crews could perform welding activities to repair the damage to the bridge beam. Crews were expected to work through the night to complete the needed repairs and anticipated reopening all lanes before rush hour Tuesday morning.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and to avoid the area during rush hour.
