HOUSTON – Sen. Ted Cruz was invited to a homecoming in Houston on behalf of the King Street Patriots.
The group said it is dedicated to fight, what it calls, the liberal agenda, which hurts the welfare of all Americans.
Cruz was welcomed by hundreds of supporters but no protestors because they were told they would be thrown out.
After addressing the crowd KHOU 11 News asked Cruz if he had any regrets about putting the nation through a 16-day government shutdown, and about his critics, including fellow Republicans who say his political tactics are reckless.
“It’s a deliberate strategy because what they want is for all these fine men and women in the media to cover the back and forth, to cover politics like it’s a Hollywood gossip column,” he said.
