SUGAR LAND, Texas – A SWAT team surrounded a Sugar Land home early Friday morning and took five suspects into custody.
Police seized guns, drugs, counterfeit cash and stolen goods from the home in the Misty Lakes subdivision.
Neighbors in the quiet neighborhood sensed trouble weeks ago.
“It was a long time coming,” said Ismail Laguna, a neighbor. “There was always a lot of activity from what I’ve seen.”
“Cars would not be there long,” Neighbor Rik Ward said. “The guys would be out in the street or they would hang over the window and talk to them for a short period of time and then the cars would leave.”
Sugar Land police said the home’s owner is a known gang member.
“The whole neighborhood has known this was going on at this house for some time,” said Douglas Teller, another neighbor.
Like neighbors, police suspected drugs were inside.
Armed with a search warrant, a SWAT team stormed in at dawn. They found a cache of illegal drugs and more. Five men were arrested: Olaonipekun Adeleye, 19; Olatunbosun Adeleye, 21; Wole Ogedengbe, 19; Akpofure Gbenedio, 17; Denzel Roberts, 20. Charges are pending against all five.
Neighbors in Misty Lakes said they are relieved.
The suspects face drugs, weapons and counterfeit money charges.
