HOUSTON -- Friday was Black Heritage Day at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The day is dedicated to showcasing the contributions of black pioneers to Houston’s history.
Local school bands, as well as bands from around the country were at RodeoHouston to celebrate Black Heritage Day. They were also there to see Mary J. Blige perform at Reliant Stadium.
Mary J. Blige is a Grammy award winner in R&B, rap and gospel. She has recorded several multi-platinum albusms.
Blige began her career in 1992 with the release of “What’s the 411.”
Mary J. Blige takes the stage at 9 p.m. Friday.
