HOUSTON—Some young men in New Jersey walked into a store and set off the burglar alarm because the business was closed, but the door lock was broken.

Most of the lights in the store were on so it looked open. When the guys realized no one was around, instead of taking advantage of the situation, they left money at the register for some batteries and sunglasses.

“Buddy’s really wants to thank them, so we’d love for them to come forward and tell us who they are so that we can give them some gift certificates, and hopefully just say, ‘thank you’ in person,” said Marci Lederman.

By the time police responded to the burglar alarm the shoppers had already left.
