A Massachusetts convenience store owner had to save a man who tried to rob him when bystanders took justice into their own hands and started beating him.

The robber tried to hold up the business with a knife but the owner grabbed a bat and chased him into the street. When the owner called for help, bystanders grabbed the robber and started beating him.

They eventually stripped the suspect down to his underwear.

"Right away I get on top of the body of the kid and I say nobody going torture this kid no more, I said you not going to torture this kid no more. No no no no," said store owner Juan Rodriguez.

The suspect was treated at the hospital then charged with armed assault.

Police are investigating the beating, saying vigilante justice will not be tolerated.
