ANSON, Texas -- When shoppers walk into a grocery store in North Texas they can't help but smile because of a cheerful employee who belts out tunes.

Saga Devereaux works at a store in Anson near Abilene. His bosses said when he's not making friendly chit-chat with customers that he's always breaking into song.

Devereaux explained the reason for his upbeat personality.

"You can be happy for free,” Devereaux said. “Can't nobody take it away from you, can't charge it, so why not be happy?"

Devereaux is from Louisiana but fell in love with the small town of Anson while visiting his wife's family and decided to stay there.
