LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- An African American girl said she may be expelled from her Florida private school if she doesn't change her natural hair.
The student said school officials issued the ultimatum after the family complained about teasing from other kids.
Vanessa Vandyke said her hair defines her personality, but fellow classmates don't like her style.
Now, school leaders are demanding she cut and shape her natural hair or get kicked out.
Faith Christian Academy in Orlando has a dress code and rules against how students can wear their hair. The student handbook states hair must be a natural color and must not be a distraction.
Vandyke said she was given one week to tame her hair, but said she's not changing it.
