HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A father of four was shot during an early-morning robbery at his doughnut shop Tuesday.
The owner of Fantastic Donuts & Croissants in the 14700 block of Highway 249 called 911 just before 7 a.m. to report he’d been shot.
Crise Song, 41, was rushed to a hospital with bullet wounds to his abdomen and leg.
Nearby surveillance cameras showed two masked men in dark clothing pull up in a black car. About 45 seconds later, they ran back out and fled the scene.
Song fired back at the robbers, but it’s not clear if the hit them.
Song has owned the shop for about four years and he’s well-known in the neighborhood.
"I feel like you can’t be safe anywhere anymore – it’s crazy," said customer Edgar Castillo. "I’m just in shock. I go to this guy just about every morning."
Deputies are looking into whether the same suspects robbed a Subway Sandwich and a Shipley’s Donut store on Monday. Those robberies happened about five miles away.
A detailed description of the gunmen was not available as detectives have not yet been able to interview the victim.
Employees of the strip center where Song works are nervous and they’re just hoping the "donut man" pulls through.
"It really hits home. There are a whole bunch of people working here in the morning so it’s concerning," said We’re going to take precautions to keep our people safe as well " said one nearby business owner.
