HOUSTON—A fatal crash on Westheimer early Thursday may have been the result of road rage following an argument in a nearby Walmart parking lot, police said.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Westheimer Road and Stoney Brook Drive.

Aerial views from Air 11 showed a black Acura coupe wrapped around a pole.

Witnesses told KHOU 11 News the Acura’s driver and passengers got into an argument with the driver and passengers of a yellow or gold Ford Mustang after someone dinged the other’s door.

The women in the Acura left the parking lot, and the Mustang followed.

The Mustang driver swerved toward the Acura, then threw two bottles at it, according to witnesses.

That caused the Acura driver to lose control and crash into a pole.

The backseat passenger was thrown from the car.

Mike Meeks rushed to the accident scene to help.

"We walked around there and she was laying face down on the pavement and we called 911 and they walked us through CPR," Meeks said.

He returned to the scene later and learned the victim had died at the hospital, despite his efforts.

"That’s why I came back just now, to see if she had made it," said witness Mike Meeks. "I found out she didn’t make it. So it’s kind of like everything you do is for not, but what can you do?"

The driver and another passenger were also taken to the hospital. We don’t have information on their conditions.

"You don’t know how precious life is, you know," Meeks said.

Houston homicide detectives said they are looking for the driver of the Mustang.
