HOUSTON – Firefighters responded to a house fire early Sunday morning in west Houston and helped rescue one of the homeowner’s cats.

Firefighters said they got a call of a house fire at 4 a.m. near Westheimer Road and Bammel Lane after the homeowner heard a loud pop in her home and discovered that a fire had started in her attic.

When firefighters arrived, she told them that one of her two cats was still in the home. Firefighters said they found the cat unconscious.

The cat exited the house with the fighters after regaining consciousness. Neither cat was injured in the fire.
