HARRIS COUNTY – A Kingwood family lost their home this weekend after a fire caused extensive damage to their house early Saturday morning.
Residents awoke to the smell of smoke at 1 a.m. in their home on Highland Laurels Drive and fled to a neighbor’s home to call 911, Deputy Chief Roy Hamm, with the Houston Fire Department, said.
Firefighters arrived to find the home fully-engulfed in flames. Part of the back side roof had already collapsed.
No injuries were reported, but the second-story attic was destroyed by flames and there is extensive water damage to the house, Hamm said. Arson investigators were called to the scene, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
