CONROE, Texas—The body of Sgt. Wade Daniel Wilson arrived at Conroe Airport at 11:45 a.m. Friday morning.

Crowds of people stood along I-45 to honor him before he was taken to Centerville.

Sgt. Wilson, 22, of Normangee, died May 11 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

He most recently lived in Leona, Texas, which is located north of Huntsville.

Wilson was a graduate of Centerville high school where he played football and ran track.

He was awarded several medals during his service in Afghanistan.
