HOUSTON – Police believe the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light, causing a big rig crash along the South Loop at Telephone Road.
It happened in the frontage road lanes around 3:45 a.m. Thursday, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup was traveling east when they ran the light, hitting an 18-wheeler. The driver then tried to run away on foot but was caught, police said.
The 18-wheeler’s driver was not hurt.
It took crews several hours to get the mess cleared out of the way in time for the morning rush hour commute.
