HOUSTON – Officers made more than 100 arrests over the past two weeks during an undercover operation on Bissonnet and Beechnut near the Beltway, Houston police said.
Area business owners had complained about prostitution in the area. Restaurant owner Anthony Owusu said it was a nightmare.
“We told the landlord to do something to block all these pimps, or whatever you call them,” he said.
The landlord responded by putting up a fence to keep the crime off the property. Then they called the police again.
This time Houston police officers went undercover and made dozens of arrests in what they called the “Bissonnet initiative.”
Since April 26, 102 people were charged with prostitution, or soliciting prostitution, police said.
Six were charged with felonies, and there were 96 misdemeanors.
Two juvenile females were found working the streets during the sting, police said.
