PASADENA, Texas – A male suspect was taken into custody Saturday morning leading police on a car chase through east Harris County, police said.

The chase began just after 9 a.m. after the man took off from a family disturbance in east Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police chased the suspect for 30 minutes through Baytown, Deer Park and La Porte.

The suspect hit a dead end in Pasadena, but then refused to get out of his car. That is when officers called in a HPD SWAT team to assist.

“They were just basically waiting, and once he got out, they stood by for a little bit. Then the second time he got out, they swarmed him and took him in,” a witness said.

Officers used pepper sprayed and arrested him.
