HOUSTON –Detectives found the body of a missing U.S. postal worker Friday evening, hours after her burned-out vehicle was located in San Jacinto County.
Dispatchers received a frantic 911 call around noon, and the woman’s truck was found on Harrell Road near Lake Livingston.
The victim's body was found around 9:50 p.m. on Morris at Harrell outside of Cold Spring.
Investigators said they believe she was shot at a different location and then driven to where the truck was set on fire.
Sources said there were bullet holes in the truck.
The truck is likely the woman’s personal vehicle. In rural areas it is common for postal workers to use their own vehicles.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is heading the investigation, with assistance from Texas Rangers and the San Jacinto Sheriff's Office.
