HOUSTON—It appears there will be no sleet in the Houston area Friday, but it still will be cloudy and cold outside, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez said.

“The numbers are a few degrees warmer, anywhere from two to five degrees warmer than we anticipated, and that makes a big difference when you’re forecasting sleet or even snow,” Gomez said.

Friday kicked off with lows in the mid-to upper-40s and highs are expected to top off right around 50 degree. There is a 30-percent chance for light rain today, but for the most part, conditions remain the same as they have been for the last few days.

We are watching the weather near College Station and areas in West Texas are seeing a range of three to ten inches of snow. For those west of Austin and Dallas, the winter storm warning could cause travel issues.

It’ll be wet and chilly for the tailgaters out at Reliant Stadium for the Texans-Bengals game on Saturday. Temps will be in the 50s, but there’s another 30-percent chance of rain in the afternoon.

Sunshine and temps in the 60s return Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Our next strong storm system will bring rain on Wednesday.
