HOUSTON – We will see scattered showers throughout the first half of the day as our July 4 holiday gets underway, but don’t worry, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson said things should clear up way before fireworks light up the night sky.

Independence Day kicked off with lows in the mid-70s and highs are expected to top off in the lower-90s. There is a 20-percent chance for afternoon showers, but all should be clear after 6 p.m.
The extended forecast shows temperatures will remain the same through the middle of next week and rain will remain in the forecast as well. There is a 20-percent chance for showers through Friday, which will increase to 30 percent on Saturday and Sunday.
