HOUSTON -- The Houston gospel group James Fortune and FIYA are nominated for two Grammy Awards, and they are excited about attending the event.
In all, there are nine members of the group that have been honored with the nominations.
They have been nominated for both gospel song and gospel album of the year. The group began at Higher Dimension Church in Sharpstown nearly five years ago.
“I think that even an atheist can be reached by gospel songs. I really really do because every gospel song does not bleed God into you, but it does breathe faith. It does breathe hope and everybody needs that,” Sheba said about her genre.
Now they are touring the country and hitting the red carpet this weekend.
They found out about the nomination a few months ago and Sunday night can’t come soon enough.
“We were totally blown away by it. The night that they announced the nominations we just flipped out. It was so surreal,” said Sheba Bryant. “I am going to be there! It is life changing.”
By the time the prime-time broadcast begins Bryant will already know if the group is a winner, both of the gospel awards will be presented in the pre-show ceremony.
