HOUSTON – Those planning on heading out to Reliant Stadium to tailgate before the Texans game should keep their rain gear handy, KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez said.

Southeast Texas should see plenty of tropical downpours Sunday especially along the coastline. There is a 60 percent chance of rain Sunday starting with some coastal showers early in the morning.

By the afternoon, some of the showers should move inland providing the Houston area some much-needed rain.

Galveston should benefit the most from the showers as they are expected to get 1 to 2 inches of rainfall by the end of the day. Overnight lows will get down to the mid-70s before they peak at 91 Sunday afternoon.

We are still keeping an eye on the tropics including a disturbance just south of Louisiana and another in the Bay of Campeche near the Yucatan Peninsula.

While the disturbance in the central part of the Gulf of Mexico has little to no chance of becoming organized, the disturbance east of Mexico has a 20 percent chance of developing into something more at this time.

Daytime temperatures will stay in the low- to mid-90s for the next seven days.
