HOUSTON—A hotel clerk was safe and sound, but emotionally shaken, after someone stole property during her shift at a Holiday Inn in west Houston early Friday, according to Houston police.

It happened at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located at 12323 Katy Freeway around 4 a.m.

Police said the clerk, who was on the overnight shift, was working the desk alone when she walked away for about 15 minutes. When she returned, she was surprised to learn that someone had gone behind the counter and locked the office door with plastic ties.

The clerk cut them off, then entered the office to find that her purse, which contained about $60, and the hotel safe, which contained about $200, were gone.

Police have very little to go on. There were no witnesses and the crime was not captured on surveillance camera.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department.
