HOUSTON—Hundreds of friends and family members gathered to remember four people killed in an alleged street race Saturday.

The people who died all had connections to truck racing clubs in the city.
The Rags to Riches Truck Club sold barbeque plates to raise money for the victims’ families.
The fundraiser was held at the same intersection where the accident happened.
Witnesses told police two drivers were racing pickup trucks along the Gulf Freeway feeder when both trucks crashed near College Avenue.

my simpathy goes out to the family and to R2R, also to MRLEX12 who ever you are some of the fastest trucks in texas reside in the southeast side of houston some of these trucks are running 9s-12s at the track. street racing is not legal or smart but i do feel for these young men and their families.

this just breaks my heart...we were headed home when we saw both trucks exit the interstate to take it to the light and then that was it. one of my passengers was talking about the dangers of street racing at the time and the next morning we saw the story and i broke down...we had just seen those guys and knew exactly what they were up to. this is so horrible, my heart goes out to the family and friends.

If i wasnt 100% sure what a term meant i wouldnt comment and i would only do it if i knew but correct me if wrong or if i left something out. Now a truck club is about a group of friends that you hang out with and you help each other out with each others trucks. Ofcourse you go out together to eat, truck shows and other places where they want too. So in a truck club there is a guy that installs alarms well you can get a really good price for an alarm or for paint jobs or for mechanic and ect... basicilly its just a group of friends that have the same intrest in trucks as yourself. Its nothing bad its just a group of friends. Well i just want to say is that before you post something think about it think of it if it would of been your son or your brother, what would you want other people to say about them. I went to the Bar b q and it was cold and it was not a party or anything close to that idk what other people would of done to raise money but if you have a better one POST IT.

I understand that some of the comments left were maybe by a parent. But image if it was your son and people like your selves are leaving comments about your kids.. DO YOU LIKE IT???? I'm not a parent, I'm a teenager and i still feel the pain that the families are going through. I'm sure nobody would like anybody saying bad things about there kids. One thing you should keep in mind never judge a book by its cover. I would like to know how many people have NEVER BROKEN THE LAW??? I'm pretty sure everyone has. It doesn't matter if you do an illegal turn or forgot to put a blinker or street racing its all considered breaking the law. Nobody is perfect and accidents do happen and choices are made wrong. But everyone does them, NOBODY is PERFECT...Road rage some people drive crazy but what is also crazy if you cut off a 18 wheeler its just as care less as the other. the semi-trucks with a load cant brake like your little sedan car. I've seen plenty off people that jump in front of them.

It is so shameful to see the way these people are acting. The lost of a love is painful and no matter what reason the person died we should show our respect. Only a heatless individual could say all these awful things they have said. Yes, it was not a very smart choice which causes the end of their life, yet we are no one to judge. Haven’t you made mistakes? For all you who have been disrespectful I pray for you. Losing a family member is very sad and the painful. Your disrespectfulness’ just shows the education you were giving. For the families who have lost your son, brother, best friend I’m sincerely sorry for your lost. I know the feeling you are having I lost a family member a week ago. Just know they are all going to be an a better place.

This incident should serve for parents to put an example of what can happen to them when racing. Sadly its not just trucks, in this citys if its not racing truck, cars & even motorcycles its road rage. People should take in consideration that others are innocent drivers with no participation in any racing. Road rage is another major big issue in the roads of Houston, please leave earlier or just arrive late but safe for you and others on the road that choose to give themselves enough time to get to their destination. jjdoxy Once a CHILD is 18 years old it does not matter what you tought them, they make their own decisions, which in this case where very poor. We as parents just hope they make the right ones thru out their entire life.

Hope not one red cent goes to the driver who is still alive, May he rot in h*ll forever. This POS chose to take the life of his passenger and iltimately thr other lives, too. He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near society again. I do pray for hsi family but they are partly to blame since they obviously didn't teach him about being a rsponsibele adult.

My trucked is nice with rims and all that stuff. But, if is just for that to look nice and sound good. When you are going 100mph no one can see your truck. except when you are suddenly stopped by a pole, I guess.

This is just another example what happens when you make the wrong choice to race. This is not the first time a family has lost their loved one - and not only one person that forever changed their families lives - - several. Lives too young to be gone from this earth. What I found more was the IDIOT being disrespectful in the red truck in the background that came around several times speeding - - - I am sure they knew this was a fundraiser for a crash victim. That's just so sad - - some people have NO respect, no class.

Street racers have no respect for inocent drivers and bystanders, so I will have no sympathy for racers who are killed while breaking the law. Take it to a race track... not the city streets.

so y would you celebrate where they died. im just glad they only hurt and killed themselves and not some inocent person. who races a crappy truck anyways. HPD should look into this "rags to riches" club , i bet they all think they drive a fast truck 37187549
