HOUSTON—Some residents in Tomball watched helplessly Thursday while water rushed into their homes.
It happened in the Tomball Hills subdivision, where Spring Creek had become a river, spanning several hundred feet.
On Zion Street, water came knocking at many doors -- and made it beyond the door in some cases. Torrential rains resulted in water flowing down the street, filling the ditches and standing in yards. It caught most people off guard.
“This is as bad as I’ve even seen it. I’ve lived here for 30 years and only twice have I seen it this bad,” said Tomball resident Mike Jones.
Some of the residents said they don’t have flood insurance.
The water began to recede when the sun emerged. That’s when clean-up and damage assessments began.
