HOUSTON -- A family in the Sunnyside Gardens community of southeast Houston is hoping that you can help them find their missing loved one with mental problems.

Melita Perry disappeared on December 1. She suffers from severe bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

"Things that go on in her mind you know," said her younger sister, Jonetta Perry. "She can't come to grips with what's reality and what's not."

Perry is 36 years old, and was last seen walking away from her boyfriend's apartment in the 7000 block of Corporate Street in southwest Houston.

Perry's boyfriend told her family that she took off out the door as he was getting dressed and lost sight of her.

She has four children at home who are worried about mom too.

"She is my heart," said her oldest son, Galen Perry. "I always need her by my side."

Perry is described as 5'03" and weighs 140 pounds. She has a nose ring on the left side and was last seen wearing a white coat and blue jeans.

Her family is doing its part by putting up flyers around town and checking with hospitals and shelters. She needs daily medication for her mental illnesses and hasn't taken them in nearly two weeks.

"It's just oh God," said Jonetta Perry. "I'm just asking and trusting in God to bring her home safe."

Houston Police don't suspect foul play but ask if you have any information to call their missing person's division at 713-731-5223.
