HOUSTON—Engineer operator Robert Bebee’s stepbrother, Ian Kim, gave a moving speech on behalf of his brother:

(Excerpts)

“I, like many of you here today, I lost a best friend and a brother, but I was so blessed to have the last 33 years with my brother. Robert was the type of person that would put needs and wants of others ahead of his own. That’s what made him perfect as a Houston firefighter. If he wasn’t saving people’s lives or their possessions, he was out rescuing animals in need. He was not only a hero in his profession, he was also in his community and also among his friends. Robert was truly one of a kind. God truly broke the mold the day Robert was born.”
“Take the time to talk or write to your loved ones, because for me, tomorrow never came to speak with my brother ever again. No one could ever take away the memories or spirit that each and every one of us shared with them and as Robert would say, ‘I got this.’”
