DEER PARK, Wash. -- A wallaroo was spotted in a Washington community over the weekend after it escaped from its owner’s property.
A wallaroo is the third largest species of the kangaroo family and is native to Australia.
The animal’s owner, Andie Davis, told KREM 2 News the wallaroo got scared while her landlord was working with some equipment and ran off, breaking through the gate on Davis’ property. Davis owns three wallaroos, including the one that escaped.
The farthest the wallaroo had been spotted from Davis’ home Sunday evening was a half-mile away near North Monroe Road and West Staley Road.
Anyone who sees the animal is asked to call Spokanimal or the Sheriff’s Office. Trying to approach the wallaroo will likely cause the animal to flee.
