HOUSTON – A dangerous prank on the North Loop Freeway nearly killed an innocent driver, according to Houston police. Officers who spotted it all go down early Friday were not amused by the antics.
An HPD unit was traveling westbound on the North Loop around 1 a.m. when the officer saw a male hanging out the passenger window and shooting a gun into the air. Several other units up the freeway also heard the same gunfire.
Officers attempted to stop the SUV, but it took off northbound on Irvington, running red lights along the way. The SUV eventually pulled into a driveway in the 700 block of Bennington and the driver and passenger both hopped out and tried to flee on foot. Both were quickly apprehended.
The passenger faces deadly conduct charges and the driver faces felony evading charges.
The driver lived at the home where the chase ended.
